Illustrator Plugin Problems
This might happen on Mac, usually after updating either Illustrator, Origami or Ai Toolbox. When the upgrade is finished, you can’t find the plugin in the menu or Illustrator shows errors on startup, pointing the plugin.
Here’s how to fix that.
Intel vs Apple Silicon Mac
One of the most common reasons of the problem is that you downloaded the Intel version of the plugin while using Apple Silicon Mac, or vise versa.
Quit Illustrator completely, make sure it doesn’t run in background. If the problem is with Origami plugin, quit Origami, as well.
Visit our website and download the software for your Mac. Use the drop–down arrow on the right of the “Download” button to see all the options and pick the right one there.
Once the file is downloaded, install the software and the plugin and run Illustrator. You should see the plugin there.
Upgrade with Illustrator in Background
Another common problem is when Origami or Ai Toolbox get upgraded without closing Illustrator.
When Illustrator is running, it prevents the plugin files from being modified, so the installer fails to update them and you start getting problems with using the plugin.
The solution is simple:
- Quit Illustrator completely. Make sure it is not running in background. Restart the computer if unsure;
- Visit our website and download the latest version of the software;
- Install the software, install the plugins from there;
- Run Illustrator, the plugins will be back there.
