Book Spreads

Boxshot supports several types of book spreads: magazine, paperback and hard cover (with optional dust jacket). Each book can be opened either at the beginning, at the middle or at the end. This gives you 9 different shapes and you can resize them according your images.

Here is the list of properties:

  • Width - the width of the book itself, not the spread.
  • Height - the height of the book itself.
  • Opened at - allows you to choose where to open the book.
  • Fit to images - fits the book to the images you loaded.
  • Use solid spread image - switches the spread between solid image and separated images modes.
  • Show dust jacket - allows you to show dust jacket (Hard Cover book only, not available in the Home edition).

Scripting

Here’s how to create a hard cover book spread:

var m = scene.root.addMesh("book", "generator.book.HardCoverSpread");
var g = m.generator;
g.width = 10;
g.height = 5;
g.openedAt = "begin"; // or "middle" or "end"
g.showDustJacket = false;
g.solidSpreadImage = true;
g.fitToImages();

The same for paperback spread:

var m = scene.root.addMesh("book", "generator.book.PaperbackSpread");
var g = m.generator;
g.width = 10;
g.height = 5;
g.openedAt = "begin"; // or "middle" or "end"
g.solidSpreadImage = true;

Finally, a magazine:

var m = scene.root.addMesh("book", "generator.book.MagazineSpread");
var g = m.generator;
g.width = 10;
g.height = 5;
g.openedAt = "begin"; // or "middle" or "end"
g.solidSpreadImage = false;
